timing question
1 Attachment(s)
im starting my turbo zx-6r (636) project next week and got a timing question...i got a custom cylinder base gasket from cometic, and im wondering if that would throw off timing? the stock gasket is .01 and the custom gasket is .05

Re: timing question
it shouldnt change your timing.. Change your Compression a bit maby but not your timing
|
Re: timing question
just use the dizzy to compensate
id be more worried about that ---- filter not flowing enough cfm |
Re: timing question
timing wont change unless you put it to gether wrong the time chain or belt will be tighter duh

Re: timing question
It'll change your timing, 0.040" is a considerable deflection. Not knowing dick about your engine I can't say by how much, but on a Honduh B-series that would be ~2 degrees cam timing or a quarter tooth off.

Re: timing question
haha , ya it does look like a valve cover breather but it is a k&n and there isn't much room so i went with the smallest possible. the filter is the least of my concerns at the moment. anyway, the engine is 636cc, and im putting in the thicker base gasket because the stock compression is 12.9:1 :o the gasket should make it about 10.2:1 any suggestions?

Re: timing question
why lower compression with a good tune on c16 would make awesome power? 13: ---- thats hard to get with custom forged pistons
