do you have tension on the wrong side of the belt?

How do you "re-time" it if you can't start it?

Does the belt come loose, slip, jump, hop, skip... what? ???

it jumps i think.. because when i get on it and the boost makes the crank torque real fast i thnink the belt can keep up, but its tight as hell and yes its on the right side of the tensioner. i still think the belt is stretched

re-time.. i grabbing a 14mm socket "6pt" and a 12mm wrench. 14mm is for the tensioner and the 12mm is for the cam gear. then you turn the engine over until the cam is at " up" which is TDC then move it forward or backwards a tooth or more and it will run agin.. there is a gunsight on the lower timign cover which u use on the crank pulley for crank TDC u line it all up then set your cam. then tighten the tensioner then fire it up.. good to go until i get on it hard agin and it slipps..

did i mention this a6 sucks!

Perhaps it's time to replace your timing belt...

Edit: After you tighten everything up and start the car, shut it off and check the belt tensionagain. I usually align the cam gear & crank pulley, put the belt on and use the crank pulley to make the tension (not the cam gear). My belt is tight as ---- right now.

tighten the tensioner till the belt is tight then get a 17mm socket and turn the crankshaft pulley counterclockwise for a little then tighten the tensioner back up, thats what i did about a month ago, and runs fine

ill try turning the crank instead of the cam to set tensuion before tighting the tensioner..

dude, no timing belt and you're not even tightening it right... get with it man, replace that ---- and do it right. It will work.
