Timing Issues!!!

OK, I just changed the head-gasket, and got everything back up and running. When I went to set my ignition timing I found that it was way off. With the car all the way warmed up, the ignition timing was extremely retarded. If I raised the idle a bit (to about 1000rpm) and advanced the distributor all the way it's still coming up quite retarded.
Any ideas?
Oh yeah, 94 Civic EX. D16Z6

haha, you know that's not real....right?!! It was in an email I got saying why birth control was so important, and they had superimposed faces of famous couple on each other showing how ugly their kids would be. I don't even remember who this was supposed to be, I just thought it looked like Jeff's old avatar.

That doesn't make any sense, there is a woodruff key in there and it only goes on one way. Besides, the machine shopp put that back on.
