thunderbird supercharger ???
 

sup ya'll .. i was wondering if it is possible to customize a old thunderbird supercharger on to a b16.. and have it function properly and be cost effective (not to much money on fabrictaion) has anybody ever tried this ?? howe would i go about doing this ??

i think that it spins the opposite way facing towards the belts on a honda engine... unless you jimmy rigged some kind of pulley thing to spin it the other way... or if you hooked it up facing the other weay and used some longass thing to spin it from the other side...

super chargers suck on small motors, they take hp to run and yield less power for same amount of boost as turbo's ;)

really? you should teall that to all the ppl running t-bird superchargers on rx7's. your prolly slightly right but a super charger will build boost almost off of idle so your in the power it makesooner. Id take more useable power over a high peak power anyday

For FWD a turbo is more suited..even the lag is an advantage as...you get less wheel spin.
My turbo starts to boost at 2800 rpm...so it's pretty damn low...but If I fon't go past half throttle or don.t floor it I can keep it out of boost and get some awesome MPG.
I though about the supercharger thing ones to...
I've read somewhere that the supercharger will make boost if turned counter clockwide...someone tried it I think.
Go search on TheOldone's board...there was a post about it a long time ago...if I'm not mistaken.

::) hmmmmm well i talked to my brother tonight and he says i will be better off using a supercharger off a 4 cylinder ..since like you said if i ran the tbird one i would have to have it sit on there reverse and it prolly takes up a crap load of room .. so how hard is it to put one on off a four cylinder??? like what will i need to do ?? where does the belt go to ??

You should look into an old MR2 cupercharger, they have clutches on them. Meaning you can turn it on and off @ will... nifty ---- right there

putting a supercharger on a 4 cilinder is more of a hasle..if you're doing it homemade style..
And a turbocharger will out power a supercharger on a 4 cilinder application.
The supercharger needs low end torque to turn it...a B16 engine doesn't have a lot of that compared to the T-bird engines and V8's.
