Default Think I got into trouble w/this turbo. (vafc, timing, & int. wastgate ?'s)T3 tu

Hey guys I need some help. I will be installing the turbo next week if everything arrives on time (otherwise the week after for sure). Im getting really worried

My question is this.
I have a .60/.48 60 trim T3 turbo and will be using the int. wastegate. I believe the stock wastegate is set at 10psi. I believe this is too much for my D16z6 right from the start. I know I need to change the spring to lower the boost. Do you know anywhere that sells different springs for my wastegate on my T3?

If not, are there a safe settings I can set my VAFC to in order to run considerably rich so I dont lean out?

Also, what should I retard my timing to in order to protect my engine?

Setup:
t3 turbo
starion FMIC
450cc injectors on the "hack"
2.5 DP and 3 inch exhaust
2.25 to IC and 2.5 to throttle body

Thanks a lot!
Dan

I had no idea internal wastegates had springs. Did you mean external?

I think 10 psi is safe for your motor. Today I was running 14 psi on my D15B7 and it's about 120 degrees out.

I have my timing retarded almost as far as the distibutor will go. I don't have a light so I don't know the exact setting. Retard it a bit and take it for a cruise. Listen for pinging.

Set the AFC to -34 across and go from there. That should be plenty rich.

oh maybe they dont have springs. I heard that they do and that's the only way you can lower it but I honestly dont know. I heard you can lower boost even w/a controller so that's why.

THanks a buch for the help. I've been worrying about this for a while.

LOL 14 holy ----. what engine management?

You can't lower the setting on them. I guess you could bend the rod, but that's just super ghetto and it creates mad lag.

I'm using the AFC hack. I was beating the hell out of it at 14 psi. First gear is pretty fun when it hits full boost. It's just a total loss of traction. Strange thing is I didn't get a map cel.

Why not 2nd gear too? THis turbo will hold to reline correct? Also, what turbo are you using?

Really appreciate the help too!

Second gear was cool, but I never made it through a full pull. I found an exhaust leak that I think was causing a serious drop in boost. I also have a little overheating problem and I was kinda scared that I was pushing this motor too hard.

I have a T3 super 60 with a stage 3 wheel. It seems to do the job pretty well. I'm probably going to step up to a T3/T4~To4 pretty soon.

Your turbo should do fine, but your going to want more.

you will never get a CEL with the hack since your MAP sensor stops raising voltage at like 12lbs or so. It's got that internal 'stopper'.
