has anyone uses exhaust wrap on there turbo manifold and downpipe setup to reduce underhood temperatures? I was making my new downpipe today, and a v8 guy sold me a roll of wrap, wire ties, and dei high temp paint for $40, this kit usually cost about $80 in summit so I took the offer, only problem is its an ugly site when wrapped. but performance first, looks last. do you think its a good idea to wrap it?
I have heat wrap on my downpipes, chargepipes and oil returns. It doesn't look bad if you take the time to cut it nicely and wrap it neatly. It does a good job of keeping the heat in the downpipes. After driving I can still grab the downpipe and hold my hand there for a while.
There is always the possibility of cracking the pipes too. thats why DC headers say heat wrap voids their warranty
