Default tell me if this is safe

i put a t3/t4 on my hatch and running the fmu and check valves till i get my ecu and uberdata working. i have the vortech 12:1 fmu and my a/f gauge stays pegged all the way rich and when i boost it will cut out at around 5 psi not sure of the rpms but around 5k so i read abunch of post and checked the spark plug gap, timing, and compression everything looks good. one of the post says it could be to much or to little fuel, so thinking the guage says rich i undid the fmu vacuum hose and did a run everything worked fine, didnt cut out and the gauge read in the ideal. is this safe?? has anyone ever not ran an fmu and it worked for them?? im only running 6 psi but if this is the case how am i supposed to get higher psi?

you have 2 problems, you're using an fmu for some reason, and you're relying on the readings of a narrowband a/f gauge which are no good. an safc or vafc is a much better idea than the fmu, plus they require you to run the 450s that you'll be using when your chipped ecu shows up. I wouldn't even get on it with the fmu on there, I'd drive a different car in your situation because it's not really worth blowing your motor just to see how it felt before you got your car tuned right.

this probably didn't help you worth ----, but the message I'm trying to give is ---- the fmu, and don't ---- with your car until you get the chipped ecu so that you have a decent engine management system going.

the problem im having with the ecu is that the vx has a wideband o2 wich is a five wire, cant figure out the wiring to make it 4 wire. i have a p28 but with the j1 jumper cut it throws a o2 cel and runs like ----, with it connected i get a solid cel and high idle. i triple checked my soldering and it all looks good. so im thinking its how the o2 is wired. any help would be great.

what he said. Get the uberdata problem straightened out. Narrowband fuel gauges are cool because they remind me of Kitt from Knight Rider' but they're pretty much useless as a tuning device.

well i found a site that shows how to convert the vx 5 wire to the p28 4 wire, ill try that in the morning and see if i can get uberdata to work.

if you have J1 connected and you get a solid CEL, one of two problems exist:

you didn't chip the ecu properly (cold joint, poor/lacking connection, missing components)
you didn't burn the chip properly (disable checksum, generally ---- things up).

fix the five wire situation, and then recheck/reburn the chip, and then check the ecu over.

Then take your 5 wire o2 sensor got to www.diy-wb.com and build yourself a Wideband kit.
