TD04 HL udgrade

Hey folks, this is my first post here. Found this site lastnight and it looks pretty cool.

I have been driving turbo volvo's for 6 years now and am now thinking of upgrading the stock TD04 HL 15g on my 94 850T.
I don't have the funds to purchase an expensive upgraded unit but would like to maybe get a larger compressor wheel, a rebuild kit and do some polishing and porting. As well as doing something with the stock compressor bypass valve.
Luckily I have a spare turbo that I am gonna mess with and once i'm happy i'll swap it out.

The car has a manual boost controller and I believe I am allready in the 250hp range, as it was 222hp stock boosting 9.7 psi and with the mbc I am seeing 13 to 14 psi.

Any advice, ideas and opinions are very much appreciated!

also, I am going to need a remapped ECU as my stock ecu cuts the fuel at 14.7 psi as a fail safe for the engine.

BUt once I have my turbo tuned up I am considering a remapped ecu and some larger fuel injectors.

If you don't want to have to swap exhaust manifolds, look into the 18t. It is still a tdo4 housing, so it will bolt up to your existing manifold. Attached are the 15g and 18g maps. You will see that you get a decent increase in flow. The 18t came on volvo s/v70r's. Since you have a volvo, you may be able to source one through those connections. FYI - Because your ecu is limiting your psi, adding this turbo without a retune will only increase lag.

I would suggest the 19T compressor. It's had proven results on my platform. I believe there are a couple into the 10's w/ them. There is not many options out there using the stock housing. If you went w/ an even bigger housing/wheel, be careful of a missmatching the wheel sizing.
