Default T3 turbo fins questions

Hi, I bought a T3 turbo from the yard, new condition, no wiggle or play at all. Well, I took the inlet and the exhaust housings off. I also took the inlet fins off, cleaned it, but when I put everything back, the front inlet fins wiggle. I wasn't like this before I took everything apart ( That's what I get for always taking ---- apart, I fucked it up). There's no forward/backward movement though. Will this little wiggle be Ok? I need advice from the turbo expert. Thanks.

Oh, when it's stuck like that means the C ring is not in all the way. I had that problem before.

Given enough time the oil will run out of the bearing housing and it will have play. Hold it up, poor a little oil into the oil inlet, and turb it slowly, it should tighten up.

You didn't run any cleaning products thought the oil passages did you?

I ran some cleaning ---- (wd40) through mine! Hope it didn't do anything too bad- did make it loosen up a little though : )

---- it, it'll probably work fine! It's such a minimal amount of side to side movement it has to be semi-normal. Ima give mine a shot! Good luck with yours!

Mine still spins perfect though

Well, this is what I did to clean it. I took it to the car wash, sprayed some engine degrease on it, let it set for a little bit, and high pressure rinse the sucker. No wiggle before I sprayed it, now it wiggle side to side a little bit. I a little bit better now since I put some oil in it. It's seem like it tighten up and spin more better.

You didn't screw it up. You just washed all the oil out of it. The stock bearings on a T3 are actually bushings. A thin layer of oil between the bushing and shaft keeps them from burning up. If you put a small amount of motor oil (not WD40) into the oil feed line and rotate the shaft you will see the play disappear. Never spin a dry turbo.
