T3/T4 Turbo Max out
I'm about to buy a turbo that will go onto a D16Z6 with vitara pistons and TT rods... and I'm just wondering about the limits of the turbo, as far as when would it max out since it's a .48 exhaust side and what would be the difference in stage 1 and 3 on the exhaust wheel?
Here are the specs on the turbo: GARRETT T3/T4 E .60 COMPRESSOR HOUSING .48 EXHAUST STAGE 1 COMPRESSOR HOUSING - .60 A/R 3'' INLET 2'' OUTLET COMPRESSOR WHEEL - 57MM (2.230'' INDUCER 2.950''''EXDUCER) CARTRIDGE - OIL COOLED EXHAUST HOUSING - T3 .48 A/R EXHAUST HOUSING STAGE 1 , 5 BOLT |
Re: T3/T4 Turbo Max out
The stage 1 turbine wheel will hold that turbo back big time. Good compressor, just get the tubine in stage 3. It will flow significantely more. The 0.48A/R will be fine with the stage 3. |
Re: T3/T4 Turbo Max out
Yes sir, stage three turbine wheel FTW. It's much bigger, and you'll spool at 3000 with 10 psi by 3500, give or take based on manifold design and a couple other factors.

Re: T3/T4 Turbo Max out
So what would be better? stage 3 .48 or stage1 .63 or how about .63 stage 3 or would the last one be too laggy

Re: T3/T4 Turbo Max out
What part of stage 3 turbine don't you understand?

Re: T3/T4 Turbo Max out
you'll max that out at about 325WHP (350 if you're lucky) due to the small exhaust housing

Re: T3/T4 Turbo Max out
So is it possible to get around 400hp with the stage 3 .48 turbine?

Re: T3/T4 Turbo Max out
we need to get some java apps that calculate all this stuff on the site. if someone has cokry's book and can post some useful formulas for real world applications than I can put them into a javascript or a java applet, which ever jeff prefers. I know this stuff is calculate-able i just don't have the formulas at hand.
