T3 Max?

alright i have a dohc zc....and im rebuilding it at the moment *eagle rods, srp pistons, arp headstuds, etc...*

i have a 88 saab T3 42/48, 2.5" dp and exhaust, 550cc injectors.... and i plan to push the turbo to the max.....any guess on what hp/psi it will max out at???

600 at 45psi

most saab t3s are a 45 trim.

so with that assumed:

looks like it can support 30psi (3.0PR), but output a max of 230HP (25 lb/min)

measure the size of the inducer so we can determine if that's correct. If it's actually a 50 trim, then assume you can push about 250HP with it.

And every 1/32 of an inch matters. The difference between a 45 and 50 trim is very little (1.595" vs 1.674"), but their flowmaps are quite different: rated at 21 lb/min and 30 lb/min, respectively. That map is obviously is more in line with what I'd expect from that small increase in size. Regardless, both flow the most at 16-18psi. Neither will last very long at that psi though.

I'll be pushing that turbo size (50 trim) as far as I can this spring - I really want to see what they can do. All I need to do is break in the clutch and put in the walbro. Next step is the same turbo, except machined to fit a 57trim t04e compressor. :6

Nice project but be prepared: on top of the machining of the compressor housing and backplate, machining the base of the t04e compressor wheel will also be needed otherwise it will sit too high on the backplate. If you keep the .48 stage 1 turbine side, you'll be limited to less than 300HP while the t04e 57 trim is rated for 450HP. You'll be penalized by an extra capacity you can'T exploit because of a too disproportionate hybrid.

man check this guy though he made 257hp on a T25 @ 10psi....im sure the T3 can do a lil more than that....

Might be a high- flow t25 , never used them and absolutely never will.
Get the T3 and get it done with , its certainly not rocket science :3

and you notice all the bs flags that were raised. Plus you notice they are in CO. If i owned a shop with a loading dyno, id certainly be doing the best tuning in town (ie, correction factor.)

Re: T3 Max?

so how much psi should i run the T3 at to max it out? i dont want to blow any seals but i want to make the most power out of it......

:-\

Saab/Volvo/Chrysler T3 drop in efficiency past 15 psi, and for those willing to overspool them you can hit 270-280 whp @17-19 psi on your run of the mill Honda D16. (DOHC) ZC flow a bit better, the OP might hit 270-ish a hair lower pressure.
