T3 compressor housing bolt... lowers boost?!
So i was thinking today, why am i running 7-8psi instead of like 10psi on my T3 60/63??? Then i remembered that i forgot to put a bolt back into the compressor housing (guess it goes all the way thru the housing) but didnt notice much in the way of lag differences... So maybe you guys can lower boost 2-3 psi by leaving a compressor bolt out of the clamps... i dont think youll overspeed the turbo at such low power/boost levels. What you guys think?

Re: T3 compressor housing bolt... lowers boost?!
Some of the compressor bolts are communicating with the compressor area. if one is missing and causes a 3/8" boost leak, it is certainly gonna impact spool up and power.

Re: T3 compressor housing bolt... lowers boost?!
it doesnt seem to be as bad as lengthening the wastegate rod

Re: T3 compressor housing bolt... lowers boost?!
on one side of hmt behavior we have ghetto methods to make turbo stuff work
on the other side of hmt behavior we change the way turbo stuff works by using ghetto methods to change it. |
Re: T3 compressor housing bolt... lowers boost?!
and then we have fook

Re: T3 compressor housing bolt... lowers boost?!
on second thought... i think i have another boost leak... looking at the bolts only like 1 or 2 of them go into the compressor housing... so... nevermind i guess? /dumbass post

Re: T3 compressor housing bolt... lowers boost?!
oh, and there's a gasket between the compressor housing and backplate on t3 turbos. This one is easily forgotten!! Not too sure how important of a leak not hainving one could cause but you could use some red gasket maker on the backplate prior to insert it to eliminate the risk of such leak.
You might also want to inspect the wheels. If they rubbed and are now smaller than the hole, this is gonna significantly reduce the turbo efficiency. |
