T3 .60/.48
I searched but could not find any "clear" answer on my question. What is the approximate rmp when this turbo will spool and does this last until red line? 7200rmp.
engine is d16y8. |
Re: T3 .60/.48
i measure my engine speed in RPM's

Re: T3 .60/.48
should spool between 2400 and 3200 depending on how healthy the bearings are and the type of manifold, compression, etc. On a d16, it'll push you to redline, but you'll be able to shift before redline and just play with the torque, so no worries.

Re: T3 .60/.48
thanks for the reply...one more question...the main difference between the T3 .42/.48 and T3 .60/.48 is the time it kicks in right?

Re: T3 .60/.48
larger turbine = slower spool.

Re: T3 .60/.48
actually its the same 48a/r turbine housing. The major difference is the .42 comp housing compared to the .60.
minimum turbo requirement for z6/y8 should be the t3 60trim turbo. |
Re: T3 .60/.48
i use a brand new garret .48/.60 t3 on my b16 with a ported cast mani. and it starts to spool at about 3000...full boost at about 4500 rpm....a little slower than i had anticipated but when it kicks it kicks hard....

Re: T3 .60/.48
Mine starts to spool at about 3300 or so and I am at full boost by 3700 or so...
It holds fine up to the redline. I like this turbo on my d-series. :) |
Re: T3 .60/.48
it will hold boost fine till redline.

Re: T3 .60/.48
I have a goofy AiResearch T3 that's .48/.63 and what everyone seems to be telling me is that it'll hit full boost around or by 4K. A little late, but like everyone with a bigger turbo on a D-series keeps saying, "...it spools later and not real quick, but once it hits full boost it rapes..." I like that and I thought about it and shifted in my N/A and who cares about the lag? Besides 1st I'm never below 4500-5000 and when you launch your into 3K anyway so big deal right? Anyone agree with me? Oh yea, it'll carry to redline. :P
