T25 and 440s

Im new to this forum, i have a 98 civic ex, already have the turbo and injectors, I know i need lots more to peice together. My question is should i look into a diff turbo like a t3 over my t25? Iver heard to many mixed reviews, i like the fact that it spools instintly, but im worried about my mid to high rpm range.

My goal is 200hp or whp! Its my dailydriver

The saab t25 turbo i was using before made 200hp but not until i pulled the wastegate line.... Now im running a t3 on low boost until its tuned but its just as good as the t25 was on high boost =-)

Thats what i was afraid of, what were you running boost at 10psi?

Is 200hp basicily the max for a t25? how much psi is too much?

different size t25s make different power, their are larger ones that i think can handle 250 but if you use a t25 flange might as well go with a t28 (will cost a small fortune for one). Seems easier to go with a t3, assortment of turbos ready for cheap. It took 23lbs of boost for my t25 to make 195whp and 220lbs of torque lol

then your either your setup was a piece of ---- or your engine was a piece of ----. d16s run 200+ hp with only 10-15psi on a standard t25.

Dunno what size a d16 motor is but this was on a 1.5sohc. Its a decently built motor with plenty of supporting mods. The t25 however was a .48/.49 it doesnt get much smaller than that.

23 lbs of boost on a t25 is only creating heat thats why it took so much boost to make so little power. if a larger more efficient turbo was used then it would take less boost to make the power since the larger turbo is flowing more air. less boost = less heat. heat leads to less power and catastrophic failure. larger turbos create enormous amounts of power but the drawback is lag. smaller turbos create less lag but there efficiency range is in the lower rpm range. you need to decide what your goals are with your turbo. low end torque your going to want a small turbo. high end hp your going to want a large turbo. my preference is a large turbo because you can drive around town and never boost until you want to.

+1 this was a knowledge guy, also deppends on what you wants, if you want it for drag use or daily driver

I was well aware of the heat it was creating but the damn turbo wouldnt make any power lol It was hardly better than the first turbo i used which was a t15 turbo! I was going on the intention that the turbo wouldnt last long anyway and i would upgrade to a gt28...... Neways my old crappy turbos aside, It was never pleasant trying to find decent t25 flanged turbos. The price for the t28s didnt make me smile either.
