which is better in terms of spool times, effeciency for my z6?

Re: t-bird turbo/ 14b...
What year of T-bird? There are two competely different turbos for the t-bird. IHI or T3?
Also, screw spool time, Low Spool time means low power!!!!!! |
Re: t-bird turbo/ 14b...
well i got a extra z6 motor stock... im gonna be running somewhere beteween 10-14psi of boost prolly start at 10 then go up, even though i have been told 7 is max on stock internals, i've read around and ppl on here are running up to 14. i was just wandering which is best for this application, i want to achieve 200-230hp with all my stock ----, porlly will be acquiring a new clutch too, mines awful screwy :S

Re: t-bird turbo/ 14b...
With a good tune 12+psi won't be needed for 200whp. The 14b might run ou of huff a little up top at the psi. Need to know what year of T-bird to mke a jdgement call on that one. an '84 would be WAY better then an '87 though. T3 vs IHI.
7 is not max on stock internals, not by a long shot unless you can't tune worth a ----! |
Re: t-bird turbo/ 14b...
Yeah you don't want anything off of a t-bird from 87/88, they switched to smaller ihi turbos.

Re: t-bird turbo/ 14b...
so then 87-under 2.3 turbo then a 14b then a ihi? in that order i know i can get that t3 turbo from my teacher erally cheap... was just wandering :D ty

Re: t-bird turbo/ 14b...
Get the t3. even if it's nt from a t-bird, it better then an IHI or a 14b. More popular and easy towork with.

Re: t-bird turbo/ 14b...
t3 hands down
u can upgrade more support better turbo |
Re: t-bird turbo/ 14b...
t3 60/63 will have the highest spool time and biggest top end, a .48 will have better spool at some expense of the top end but it should be faster than a 14b, even though the 14b is a good choice also

Re: t-bird turbo/ 14b...
My 14b does pretty well on my stock z6 with average spool time starting around 2300 rpm. I have taken the rpm's up to 7500 a few times, and the 14b does keep up with it. But you also have to realize that a stock z6 really doesn't have much momentum after 7000 rpm anyway. The most i have taken my stock z6 up to is around 12 psi once, and that was getting on the edge of scary. Unless you have awesome engine management and even better tuning skills and dyno time out the ass, i honestly wouldn't go above the 10 psi mark.
