Why? I've seen t3's that are smaller than 14b's. Just because the compressor looks smaller doesn't mean the turbo itself is smaller.

tbird t3 .60, will make you really happy
14b vs .42/48t3= almost the same (t3 is a lil bit bigger but barley noticeable)
14b owns the t25(DSM)

Check the compressor maps...most .42/.48's are a 45 trim compressor...
Now compared to a 14b...

you'll be lucky to get 360cfm out of the 45 trim at around 60% efficiency.
The 14b's 6cm2 exhaust housing has a rough a/r of around .46 and combined with the design of the td05h exhaust wheel is a very close candidate to the garrett .48 exhaust setup. You always have the option to swap out to a 7cm2 housing on the 14b, which is very close in flow to the .63 ar in the garrett's. Unfortunately I don't have any a/r specs on the compressor of a 14b or what trim size it is, and I don't feel like pulling the snap ring out of my 14b's compressor housing to check the trim. :P
