Supra Sonic TT 2.5L 1JZGTE

Hey Everyone. My MK3 Supra has no turbo. Its a 5 Speed Manual Transmision.

I was Looking at some of the JDM 1JZGTE Engines, these engines are 2.5 liters, I6 Twin Turbo.

Only problem is, I dont know if I have to change my computer, and the engines are coming out of Automatic Supras.

Do I have to chang emy comp and can I just take that auto tranny off that engine and hook it up to my Manual tranny with no problem?

I was at the Drag way one day during summer and some guy had a 1987 Toyota SUpra with the 1jzgte engine and he said everything hooked right up, no mods of the comp. and tranny aligns right up. The only problem is I didnt ask him if his supra was ALREADy a turbo supra, meaning the computer was a turbo setup. So If anyone here is more knowledgable than me about engine transplants and such please hit me up with your advice and if its too much work. Im still going to go to shops and see what they say to get more info on it. thanks.

i am undergoing the swap on my 89 right now. you have to use the 1jz computer to do the swap you also have to extend the wire harness 18" to fit through the other side of the firewall. your best bet is to buy the whole front clip from jarcoinc.com like i did. it comes with every thing you need and you can choose auto or 5-speed.

I've seen two 88-92ish turbo supras at the track, they smack all the civic CXs and VXs !! I think one broke into the high 16's the other night !!

Just screwing with you guys.

My favorite turbo car I've driven to date was a 89 supra turbo. It had about 10 oil leaks, and was about to fall apart, and the dealer wanted $800 for it. Since the turbo was prob. trash, it had the worst lag EVER, which made it really funny. I'd WOT it, and about 4-5seconds later the boost gauge would start to shake, then PPPHHHSSSSSHHHH, shift, then another 3-4seconds later the gauge would shake then PPPSSSHHHH.

I didn't say it was the fastest, but it was the funnest.
