subaru turbo

hey i am new here and i need some help with my custom turbo setup. i have a subaru wrx turbo TD04l. first off does anyone on here have any pics of their setup using a subaru turbo (i searched but all the pics where not working for me)? can i clock the center of my turbo? is it anything like the T3? or is it a completely different process? what is the stock psi on a wrx turbo?

i think i have most of it covered but thanks anyways. all i need to know how to do is clock my turbo. the TD04l doesn't look anything like the T3. so i can’t really base it off that walk through.

so because a subaru doesnt look anything like a honda, that means you can't turbocharge a honda with a subaru turbo. your face deserves to be inserted into a fully spooled turbo inlet, while castrating yourself with a 13mm wrench.

Re: subaru turbo

yeah i finally found another walk through with a TD04 and pics. The T3 walk though doesn't say anything about the location pin that you have to grind off on the td04. i just wanted to know and be shown with pics exactly how to do it so i wouldn't screw anything up. sorry for seeing if anyone could help me find the answer to my question guys.

yes i agree and i too get tired of answering the same questions over and over. so i help some and i don't help others. but my method of not helping others is to simply not reply or to just say "please just search".

it's like being a jerk to a total stranger because someone else pissed you off, not entirely fair to this new person even though they should learn to search.

Everyone go get laid or something ;-)

Re: subaru turbo

Loosen bolts holding exhaust housing on (Or V-band clamp), turn housing, tighten bolts (or clamp). It's the same for all turbos basically.

Re: subaru turbo

The tdo4l is the same assembly design as pretty much any other MHI turbo. To rotate the exhaust housing, unbolt the band clamp and remove (yes, it will pull right out with a pair of vise grips) the lock pin. To clock the housing side just remove the huge C-clip.

Re: subaru turbo

did it come iff the sti?i know that turbo is small as hell it will spool at 2500 and let out at 65 to 680,.if i was u i would go wwith t3/t4 hybrid or a das old fashion dsm turbo.

BTW:::: WHERE IN THE ---- IS OUR PORN?

No, STi's use a VF-30, VF-34, VF-39, and VF-43 IIRC.

EDIT: I'm sure there's more, I just don't know of the others.

Nope, that's pretty much the entire list of STi turbo's right there. Unfortunately any of those turbo's listed are considered an upgrade over the tdo4l. :P

Re: subaru turbo

That turbo on the wrx is a small mofo, it would spool pretty quick on a small engine. However, from what I have seen, they are a bit pricier than the traditional T3 and mitsu turbos.

Re: subaru turbo

yeah its a small turbo i am only lookin to make about 180 to 200 whp. do you guys think this turbo will be ok on a jdm D15b stock interals for my goal? do you guys think it will make it up to 7K rpm without majorly running out of breath?

Re: subaru turbo

you'll make the power. i've seen two very basic hmt setups on y7 motors making 200whp with almost 200wtq at 11lbs. just get a good tuner

im self tuned using this same turbo on a y7/y8 mini-me, and my butt dyno says im probably 180whp or so at 10lbs

im running the same turbo on my B18b and its making pretty good power at even 6 psi. I havent gotten it dyno'd yet but i would guess im sitting around 200hp.

i wouldn't run that cheap clear plastic tubing from your wastegate over your mani to your turbo. i bet it will melt. find something more heavy duty

Re: subaru turbo

yep, found that out after running it at idle for about 10 minutes :P, changed the BOV hose also to some real vaccum line

bitchasscracker 10-15-2007 11:32 AM

Re: subaru turbo

i doubt your making 200hp on 6 psi
