Default Stupid n00b question part 2

This one has to do with the BOV where the hell does it go on the setup ? On the intake charge pipe? and what exactly do they do? I know it relieves pressure from in the piping itself, but is it before or after the turbo? Does it prevent from over boosting into engine or into turbo?

Thanks

A BOV goes a little before the intake. When you let off the gas and the throttle bodie shuts it releases all that air that has nowhere to go. If you don't have one you can blow your turbo up.

Okay, so using a customized charge pipe for intake, do I need to drill and tap it to fit bolt holes for a BOV?

does it really matter where you mount it? i saw a kit with it mounted to the fmic. the pressure just needs to be released before it is able to hit back at the turbo when the throttle plate closes.

One last question what do you connect the vacuum line they come with to?

connect the vacume line to your intake manifodl just T off iot to somewhere.

I think keeping closest to T body is the best because itll relieve that air fastest.

yes the closer to the throttle body the better, you dont want air near the TB to have to come back through the pipe to reah the BOV

The closer it is to the turbo the more chances of compressor surge you get... the boost regulation wont be as smooth

The BOV is operated by vacuum, when it sees a certain valve (I.E 22in 25in) of vacuum the valve will open.

When the throttle is shut, is when the engine will build vacuum.
