stupid bolt

Hi fellas,

I have a t-3 turbo off a volvo and there is a bolt hole on the intake side of the housing. unfortunately, I don't know where the bolt is. Anyone has a spare one? I will post pictures later tonight. It's like 10x.8 pitch I think.

It'd be quicker to just go to your local hardware store.

If they don't have the right size bolt, get one the next size longer and put some washers on it.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking.

There's a bolt on the intake side of the housing? Which housing? Are you trying to clock the turbo?

You don't know where the bolt it? I thought you just said it was on the intake side of the housing?

Maybe posting pics will help.

I think he means he misplaced one of the bolts that holds the compressor housing on

Most likely it's the hole for the nipple that goes to the internal wastegate actuator.
You should be able to find a plug at any hardware store.

Re: stupid bolt

8x1.25mm is the thread pitch for all T3 compressor cover clamp bolts and exhaust housing clamp bolts as well as o2 housing bolts into the exhaust housing

I included some picture this time. hopefull it helps explain what I need. I already went to the local hardware store and 10x1.25 seems to be too big still. I need something that has smaller pitch.

Re: stupid bolt

it should be 1/8 npt

im gonna have to agree with cberman. it looks a 1/8 pipe thread to me. looks like you need it to run to your wastegate

Yup, because you can really tell the difference between 1/8 NPT and an M8 bolt. I highly doubt garrett would use pipe thread anywhere on the turbo.

Yeah that looks like the nipple fitting for the wastegate. Just get a bolt and washer form the hardware store like everyone else said and use some teflon tape or something so it doesn't leak boost.

i had a 1/8npt fitting + tap hole right where yours is on my airesearch garrett 42/48

thats like saying an american car wouldnt use metric nuts/bolts on their cars...

ford automatics have metric stamped into the trans pan :1 :1

Yeah, because it would be too cost effective to use a tapered pipe thread on a fitting that needs to be air tight. ::)
