so, some oddball stuff today. I was delivering pizza, like I do, and cross an intersection and all of the sudden, I can hear my turbo. A couple seconds later I hears scrape...scrape...scraaaaaaape. WTF? I guessed my downpipe bolts got loose or something, then thought about that for a second. I would have had a huge exhaust leak before that happened. I pull over, pop the hood. Sure enough my exhaust was just hanging right below where the downpipe should be. I take a closer look and see there is still about 2" of the downpipe still attached to the turbo. It just broke...for absolutely no good reason. there was no weld where it broke, nothing. it just straight up broke. I just had this exhaust put on there in roughly June. What is the deal?

was it stressed somehow? was it holding any wieght? if so there's your problem.

 

Exactly. My exhaust did this due to my DP not being able to reach the cat so i made it "fit".

 

nope, it just had to support its self. I don't have a cat and it wasn't hitting anything. I'm going to check my solid motor mounts to make sure they are still solid.

you have a flex pipe section in your downpipe?

 

+1 on the solid motor mounts without flex... there is your added stress..
