Re:Stock clutch life???

on any turbo setup with a descent amount of added torque your gonna eat it up quick......stock clutches arent meant to be hammered with boost.

Re:Stock clutch life???

ive seen guys last from days on a stock clutch to a few weeks on a low boost setup... Expect to blow it up and replace it either before going boost or soon after

Re:Stock clutch life???

I don't care my clutch is lifetime warranty on the oem replacement clutches. Just replaced it 2 months ago when i stared boosting. If it starts too slip again, take it off and bring it back too them. But for now it seems to be grabbing very well for an oem. I beat the ---- out of this clutch..haaha

sure there isn't a limit on how many times you can do that?....i think i'd rather put a good clutch in once than put a crappy on in a million times, that's just me

What motor? What boost? I've got a b16 that I have been boosting 6-8 psi for 9 months and the factory clutch if fine..?

Re:Stock clutch life???

its a d16y8 im thinking about 8psi at first, unless that will burn the ---- out of my clutch in that case i'll turn it down. and i don't drive like a complete idiot i just like to hammer the gas every once in awhile like everyone else.

Re:Stock clutch life???

I would upgrade the clutch if I were you, I don't think it would last very long at all. The only reason why the B16 clutch lasts so much better is that it's way more clutch that the car needs to begin with. It's the same clutch (disc & press. plate) that is used in the CR-V. Also, stay away from ceramic (puck) clutches if you can. They will tear up your flywheel really bad, they are also very unfriendly for street driving. (Very harsh engadement)

Re:Stock clutch life???

ummm....i thought the cr-v is only auto???...and i like my 6-puck, its still streetable, i drive in traffic everyday. It can get on your nerves but its not that bad

Re:Stock clutch life???

All I do is sell clutches all day every day, so I do know that the CR-V did come in a stick. Very few, but they are out there. Anyway, you aren't going to like the looks of your flywheel when you have to change that clutch. My only point is that you usually have to replace the flywheel when you have used a ceramic disc.

i wasnt challenging you on the cr-v thing, just wondering...and i guess ill have to live with the flywheel getting messed up (which happens with normal clutches over time anyway, maybe just not as much) since i didnt see many other options for clutches that hold a lot of power (plus i got mine fairly cheap)

Re:Stock clutch life???

Sorry to come off all pissy, didn't mean for it to sound that way. I don't want to sound like mister salesman but I do sell Exedy racing clutches. Just in case you want to know...Exedy is the performance name the Daikin clutch company is using. Daikin is one of the worlds largest O.E.M. Manufactures. They make clutches for Honda, Acura, Toyota, and Nissan. All of thier performance clutches are designed and built as performance clutches, not just modified versions of the O.E. I work at a company called Clutch Dr. in Denver and we have recently brought them on as a new line. Check out the Daikin website for all the info on thier stuff. www.Daikin-Clutch.com I can get you guys ANYTHING that is in thier catalog. (providing it is in production) By the way, my civic gets to be the experement for our management guys. They are giving me a lightend flywheel and a clutch to try out...I'll let you know how they work. ;D
