Steady 7psi, weather change now 10psi? Oil Return question too...

So over spring break I helped my buddy boost his car. We used a good condition 14b (hairline crack on WG port but thats it) and were running 7psi. It got rainy this weekend and now hes pushing 10psi and he hasnt changed anything on his car at all. My buddys DSM has done the same thing, it was @ 8psi now its going to 11psi. Whats going on? Neither of my buddies have done anything to their cars and the boost suddenly decides to change? Im positive on my buddies civic that his WG line is secure and not leaking or anything... But Im going to triple check it to make sure. Does anybody have any idea as to why this is going on?

My buddy with the Civic is running stans oil line kit. The oil return its kinda gay since he didnt have the return bung welded where he should of, so we used some hose that we had laying around to get it running. No leaks. We cut the ss hose and got it hooked up. The return looks like an L placed on its back with the 90 degree coming off the turbo. It started leaking a ton of oil and so we switched back to the hose and no more leaks, plus the hose has a somewhat of a kink in it and still seems to flow the oil just fine. The return isnt uphill, more level then anything else.... Do we need to use teflon tape on the AN fittings or something? I was told that you didnt have to... I think that were just going to weld another bung lower in the pan and hook he AN fittings up and see if it still leaks...

Any help/insight would be rad, thanks.

Teflon is not needed for an fittings as it self seals as it gets tighter, as for the boost mine changes with colder weather too but not as much as 3 psi. I just assume it's something to do with the colder denser air. :-\

Where is the return to the oil pan? If it is below the oil level you will have backup issues.

edit - About the boost thing, how big is the IC? I'm sure a big IC would make a larger change in boost w/ temp.

His oil return is quite high, infact I think that its too high cause the hose almost has to angle upwards a tiny bit. Hes running the JRC 5in IC. Is it to big for his setup? So is this a more common issue that my friends are dealing with? (boosting a few more psi when its cooler out?)

Anyone on the boost pressure issue?

I though the return line had to be the highest it can be on the oil pan.

blow out the lines from the pressure source to the wastegate actuator.

Where did you tap for a pressure signal?

its possible that some metal somewhere may have expanded and put extra tension on the wg actuator arm (which would up the boost pressure)

sk2 al It should be, unless it has to angle upwards.... Which it isnt hardly angled up, so I dunno what were going to do.

Comp JLT We tapped the WG off of the little black EGR thingy on the back of the IM... I can see the metal expansion thing possibly causing a boost increase but boost increased when it was colder out... Were gonna tune this friday with a wideband and were gonna screw around with differnt sources for the WG and see what happends. Isnt the stock 14b 8lbsi? Were only hitting 7.... guess Ill have him do a pressure check and see if his piping is leakin. Wait even if it was leaking, ( I dont think it is) it wouldnt go to 7 and hold, then why not 8 seeing as thats the stcok setting? My buddy has a 1st gen DSM and is telling me that the stock setting is 10lbs...

who knows, ::) any input is appriciated.
