they said we can tune it next friday, i was like ---- that give me a base map, so that i can drive it. so yeah just a shitty base map. ill take it out tomorrow to see how bad it is.

 

You didnt boost or anything and your motor ------- popped?

Ok here is the story. My first time ever boosting a car. I got everything done yesterday, I started it up on my OBD II just to see if everything is ok. I had some coolant leeks, so I fixed that. Then I went to revtech to get my ECU, they said they can tune it next Friday. So they just put a base map on it and told me not to drive it too hard. My friend came with his integra to check it out, we decided for him to fallow me home in case something happened. So we’re driving and he pulls up next to me and I was like its on bitch. So we go he starts pulling away a little and then I just go right by him next time im it third and he’s in second he leves me cuz of my long *** gears. Last time I start to pull away then it backfired twice and the third thing was the block shuddering. There was wight smoke everywhere we walked back and found the piece in the pic smoking on the road. We were going around 85 when it happened. Ill go to my shop as soon as I get something to eat, to see how bad everything is. Ill post pic later tonight.

 

sorry to hear man that suck's! So do you think the base map wasn't tuned properly for even some lite rippers?

 

probably just a really shitty basemap, but all in all setup looks great!

that's why i always tell my customers to never boost on a basemap. they even told you that. did you even check your timing at idle after putting the basemap in? for all you know it could have been advanced. i'm not saying the shop didn't f#ck up...hopefully they didn't forget to put some timing retard in boost, but you never know when there could be a lean spot in a basemap, which wouldn't be there fault. a basemap is just to be able to drive the car out of boost to get it to the shop for a tune. did you even have 92/93 octane in the tank?

good thing you have a y7. if you look around good enough you can find one for $300 or less...possibly free. good luck on the next one and get it tuned first.

 

im not blaming the shop or anything. I was too excited and I fucked up. I have a y8 head and I found a z6 block on ebay, so ill see if I can make it work.

 

thats too bad, man. Hopefully you can get it up and get boosting again soon. Its cool that you got your dad to help you with it, my dad is scared to death of my car and refuses to help me or ride in it.
