Started car... having issues......
Ok .. heres the deal... i just put my 14b on my 1.5L and started it up... I HAVE NO CHARGE PIPES ON YET...
the car seems to be running like ---- ...its stumbling like its misfiring or something! ... Making lots of loud noise! .. lol ... Now i ask, could this have anything to do with the turbo Its really hard to tell where the noise was comming from cause i was running with just the O2 housing on, no exhaust..... so i couldnt really tell if the noises were in the turbo or coming out of the exhaust.
I figured the noise would be more high pitched if it was the fins of the turbo hitting or something. Hell i couldnt even see in to see if the turbo was spining. If the turbo wasnt spinning would it be enough to to choke the engine like that
When it made the noise the motor would vibrate and shake with it .. like it was gonna stall or something .. the noise resembles a gurgling...
also, well ive never even been around turbos really before this .. but when i free reved the motor i expected to hear the turbine spinning and ----, and i didnt at all!.. Nothing .... i even laid a plastic bag on the compresor outlet and gave it a rev and it only really listed the bag like 2 inches ... i was expecting the turbo to be blowing like ------- crazy!, or is that not how it works?
the turbo and the manifold did look like it was smoking though ... but it looked as though they were just smoking on the outside, maybe from lots of handling with oily hands? I did not notice and smoke coming out of the exhaust or the compressor inlet or outlet, not did i see any oil ....
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH ME CAR/TURBO?
thanks guys!

Re: Started car... having issues......
no need ofr hostility... this is my first time putting a setup together and i dont live where my car is so unfortunatly i dont have a shitload of time to just stay and ---- with it , instead im asking questions ...
std manifold, home made adapter plate, 14b, stealthmode oil line kit and yet its installed... I just want to make sure everything is right before i continue on my project. I just dont see why my car is running this bad .. I mean, its the first time i started it in 6 months. But even after running for a long time it was still the same ....

Re: Started car... having issues......
it'll idle better when u get everything else done. jus finish up ur project then when u find problems then ask questions. my car ran like poo when my ic pipes would pop off durring races, it has like all the back pressure from the turbo yet not enough air cuz nothigns being pushed. i dunno how to explain it jus finish up.

ok ok .... but just to be a bit more descriptive, the gurgling/posible misfiring is also there when i hold the motor up in the revs a bit ... and get real bad when i let go of the throttle real fast.

Why don't you just take the advice thats been written here and finish the setup, then start worrying? Any kind of oils or lubricants might be burning off. Oil from your sweaty hands, etc.
How much smoke are we talkin here?

Re: Started car... having issues......
not much, like i said i see it coming off the surface of the manifold and turbo, and not from the compresor outlet.
I guess i will take the advice and just keep working on it . I dont mean to be a pain in the ***, but like i said i dont live with the car, and only really get about an hour or 2 to work on it every 2 weeks, so when i get time to work on it i dont want to spend alot of time trying to figure ---- out or it will never get done . Lol the rest of my time is spent taking care of my son. Expensive things those kids are ... haha i guess thats why im building a junkyard turbo!
pretty much i was just concered that i may have dont something wrong the way my motor was stutering and bogging throught the rpm's
