SSAC "tial" wastegate knockoff **IMPORTANT**

If you currently own an ss autochrome tial wastegate or are thinking of purchasing one you MUST read this!

A few days ago I was hearing a very strange exhaust leak. I couldnt tell where the hell it was coming from. My boost started to take a little longer to spool so I suspected my external ssac wastegate. So far up to this point it has worked flawlessly. The friggin top half of it was coming off!! So I removed the WG and started to dissasemble. On the inside theres a nut on the piston that was about to fall off. I don't know what could have happened if it had and really don't want to find out. Theres also 7 or 8 tiny allen head screws holding things in place that every single one of them was very loose. I went ahead and applied lock-tite to all of them, reinstalled and its back to normal.
Another thing to look for is the rubber gasket inside. Mine was pinched pretty bad between the two wg halves but doesnt seem to affect performance. If you own one or are going to get one don't hesitate one minute and take that thing apart the second you get it. Lock-tite all the screws, tighten the piston nut, make sure the seal is in correctly and happy boosting. No wonder these things are cheap. BTW get a buddy to help you or a bench top vise. Its a bitch to thread the bolts back on by yourself. That damn spring has got some pretty good tension :)

Good advice, mine is supposed to arrive today. Did you use red or blue loctite?

I think this is another sign of their products requring some mods to keep them safe. Thanks for the 411. I bought one about a month ago. Time to modify before it goes on the car.

Used blue lock-tite it was all I had lyin around. It should hold. They had what looked to be teflon tape on the threads? Whatever it was it didnt work at holding those allen set screws in place lol.

Could the originator of this thread, if possible, post pics of what is involved? Internally wise...

Thanks
