srt4 intercooler would it be overkill

will i have a chance to get a pretty nice stock srt4 intercooler for really cheap and im wondering is this going to affect my 14b set-up on my stock a6 cuz im guessing i can only push my motor to 225 with a good tune. so im wondering if this intercooler will have a negative affect. well im just looking for a intercooler as a universal application because i plan on building my motor for more boost to maybe 300-350hp

Re: srt4 intercooler would it be overkill

The only negative effect would be slightly more pressure drop across it, but don't let that discourage you at all.

It will only improve your setup.

cuz i have to choices either get a used jrc intercooler that is 30x8x2.75 or the srt4 intercooler

Re: srt4 intercooler would it be overkill

Well the 8" JRC is bigger than the srt4 fmic, either will work fine.

Im running a 27X9X3 with a 14b @ 10 psi.
in my EG it barely fit I had to cut the rebar in 1/2 and re weld it.
and it still sits as low as the bottom of my rad support .
between my bad flowing d15b7 long gear trany and over kill IC i have a pretty lagy set up.
but the bigger IC will make a difference when I do my Z6 swap.
just check if it will fit and you should be fine.

Re: srt4 intercooler would it be overkill

I had to remove the 2 suports on the rad and the first layer of fins(no coolant passages) and it is awsom, you kep your washer fluid bottle and everything. keeps the pipes nice and easy. I love the way mine worked out. and also remember. chrysler made it to last as long as the car so it is a way better quality product then most of the egay ----. this IC should last like 10 years

Re: srt4 intercooler would it be overkill

it will be fine since it`s not that big, but they are one of those OEM core that has REALLY REALLY tight packed internal fins.
