SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
1 Attachment(s)
My friend has an SRT-4 and recently upgraded to a bigger turbo. He recently gave me his stock turbo, the turbo has about 55,000 miles and works fine no shaft play no crack. The only problem is that the whole turbo is all on one piece with the manifold. I searched the net and havent found anyone who has use this Turbo, its a reverse around of an TD04.
Attachment 29995 Here is a pick online its looks exactly like the one I have. Is their any way to make this fit to a cx manifold or its not worth the trouble? |
Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
is it me or is the downpipe going back into the manifold?
|
Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
I think it is? Everything is all in one piece. I dont know how to make this work with a CX manfold.

Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
I bet you theres an outlet on the bottom side of the manifold that probably bolts onto a downpipe. Anyhow, tdo4's are pretty small turbos, not worth all the hassle of trying to adapt that thing to a manifold.

Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
You could try to find another exhaust housing, and still use the chra and compressor side of that turbo.

Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
cut it up with a chop saw and weld on a t3 flange. youll be set.

how sure are you ????????? you've made alligations in the past that wernt true can you prove this one that is the nicest way i could say it |

It might bolt on, but I don't think it will work to well. I'm pretty sure the srt-4 turbo spin backward compared to darn near every other turbo in the world. So even if the housing would fit on, the scroll would be going the wrong direction for the turbine wheel. And then eve if it could get it to spin it would make the turbo suck..literally. But I have been wrong before also. Later Randy |
Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
i said it would fit didnt say it would work, i never have heard that the srt-4 turbo spins bassacwards :S, in that case not to sure that it would work but im pos. it will fit lol

Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
just double checking myself
http://www.srtoys.com/srtu.html I would either sell it (but I think a manifold and stock turbo is only like $500 from dodge) Or do like mentioned above and hack it up and weld a t3 flange on to it. But since the inlet for the turbine will be on the opposite side as normal you might have figment issues without making a special manifold. Later Randy |
Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
same design as a earlier volvo, im pretty sure you could use the tdo4/tdo5 housing from a volvo, shave the t3 volvo flange down and be good :)
also as far as the turbine spinning the other direction it wouldnt matter because the pressure from the exhaust will still spin the tunbine, just like it would on a normal, both fins are reversed no big deal just ass backwards but will function the same. :) cheers. |
Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
cut it at the inlet and outlet, and weld whatever to it, thats what id do with it
|
Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
I'd resell it on the neons.org forums, or ebay. Those guys bolt them on to the N/A earlier neons for a mild setup since it bolts right on. A while back they were worth a 400 or so on there, not sure now since more people will have removed them from their SR-T's. Sell it and use the money to buy something that would work better for your setup.

Re: SRT-4 TD04LR-16Gk turbo
No it will not fit on a tdo5h 14b housing. We tried it.It will not even fit the late model volvo housing. We tried that too after the shaft broke on my friends tdo4hl.He has a srt4 turbo he got for 40 bucks from one of are friends. This was only a week ago,so its still fresh in the memory.

1- 14B is a TD05 based turbo, there's quite a differance between TD04 and TD05, like 3/4" between the CHRA and turbine housing 2- It's a TD04R the R means reverse! You can only run it in another TD04R turbing housing. The SRT is the only car that I know of that uses it currently. Same reason you can't use an EVO4+ CHRA and compressor cover with a standard TD05/6 housing and Vice-versa. basicly sell it to someone with a non-SRT neon and buy something else. |
