1. Are you building a Drag only car ?

2. Are you shooting for 500+whp ?

If your answers to these questions are NO...then your choice is Vitaras ;D

3. Do you want to stay cheap, be reliable and fast? (the big 3 words that "dont go together")

If you answered yes to this one..You still want Vitaras ;D

:y :y

Vitaras more reliable then a name brand forged piston? ::)
---- if the SRPs are only $200, I'd snatch em up.

Re: srp's or vitaras?

Ive seen SRP,CP,JE, Wisecos blow up at as litle as 325-350whp... Tunning is the key.You can have a forged piston there and if the tune is not right they wont last long. So YES they can/could be more reliable than an aftermarket one..

They have produced reliably 450whp on setups running for over a year with over 50 track runs and these days more and more 400+whp setups are appearing with these pistons.. These pistons are on setups capable of running 10's at the track (130+mph traps) :6

The SRPs price is good though (check if the rings are included) but its more than a 50 dollar difference vs Vitaras... and they will do the job fine

Re: srp's or vitaras?

really, vitaras arent more reliable cause if you had forged pistons blow due to a bad tune then im sure vitaras will to. im sure real forged pistons are a little more tolerant to bad tunes than vitaras. so no, vitaras are not more reliable

Re: srp's or vitaras?

like fjt said, if your power goals are 400+ then go with a forged. people say spend the extra $50 to go with forged.... but i say why spend the extra $50 when you don't have to ::) it really is a matter of your power needs and budget

Re: srp's or vitaras?

if i could get forged at that price i would no matter what my power goals were. peice of mind is well worth $50 to me

True... but would you rather learn your lesson by blowing $400+ pistons or by doing it with a 130 dollar one?

The hole in your pocket will robably be huge and you will probably think it agan before spending that kind of money...

anyways.. to the thread starter..buy the ones you feel more comfortable with and that you can afford..

Re: srp's or vitaras?

i agree, but when the $400 pistons are only $200 its worth it to me. dont get me wrong. i am working on my own tt rod and vitara piston setup right now. im not against them at all, i just think for that price the forged pistons are the way to go
