spooling problems..just started... (long story)

okay my setup again..

y7/z6 mini
comp 59300 cam
14B@10psi

background:
originally, i was hitting 10psi at around 4500 rpm, which i thought was a little high. and as some of you know, the 14B wastegate can only be held on by one bolt if you clock the housings, so my problem in the beginning was that the wastegate wasnt properly aligned, and was leaking, causing slow spool. Well, i fixed that, and was hitting 10psi at around 3500 rpm and all was well.

I noticed i was leaking a lot of oil, and i traced it to my tuner toys block fitting. so i decided to fix it. Here came the next problem.

I was doing an oil change (to kill 2 birds with one stone). I had originally been putting valvoline 20w50 "vr1 racing" oil in my car, i figured thicker oil would help out the aging block. Anyways, i drained the oil, and removed the block fitting and put thread sealant on all of the fittings. changed the filter, and filled up with some run of the mill 10w30 since everybody was telling me that 20w50 was stupid to put in the car (i thought it was fine).

THE PROBLEM:
im not reaching 10psi until almost 5200 rpm (!!!!!) since i changed the oil. I check the wastegate and it appears lined up correctly (i didnt touch it when i changed the oil).

THE QUESTION:
DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS ON WHY IM HAVING THIS PROBLEM NOW??

well, since the only thing you changed was the viscocity of the oil, then logicly, that might have something to do with not spolling good. I don't think it would, as long as you didn't go from using synthetic to just dino piss, but that still should not have effected it. Since you mentioned so much about your wastegate, and actuator, then you probly also believe thats the problem. The only viable answer I can think of, is you fucked that up some how, check the vacume line. but yeah, i can't really see how the oil would affect spool time by alot, is the car smoking now?

the car is not smoking.

the wastegate hasnt moved since i originally adjusted it, i checked.

maybe the actuator finally gave out?

it still has a lot of spring tension on it. you cant easily pull the arm out of the actuator

its got me stumped :(

maybe when you did the oil change, you might have taken the air filer off, and maybe some ---- got in there, and chewed up your fins? i dunno, that would piss me off if that happened to me.

nothing was touched except for the turbo oil lines coming from the tuner toys block fitting and the oil filter, and of course, the oil cap ::)

ok, well then put the good oil back in and see if it works better, thats pretty much all you can do really.

sound like you might have some coking in the bearing on the turbo ,

Re:spooling problems..just started... (long story)

i bent my wastegate bracket back a little and it helped, so i guess that it wasnt oil related, its just that 14B wastegate on a clocked housing is only held on by one bolt and it bends under pressure....

im a dummy.
