spool time

i have a 42/48 turbo on a b18b and i am getting spool around 4500 and a nice kick at 5000rpms. i think my wastegate isnt fully shutting, but I have no idea how to check that. could it also be because it is an old turbo? i thought those things were supposed to get like FULL spool around 3500. any ideas on what it could be? also if you have a vacuum line that doesnt go to anything and originates from the vacuum port and is not connected to anything, can you have any problems with that? because that's considered a vacuum leak...right? thanks

take your downpipe off. If the door isn't closed all the way, you need to take it off and look at it.

Ya doesn't sound right. if you can wiggle the Flapper a little, it leaks. Try just putt a few washers between the wastegate and where it bolts too to put more tension on the arm. My 14b was doing this at the beginning of the season, and now all is good.

Full boost by only 3500? Shooooooot, I get 10.5 psi full boost at 3700 on my y8 in 3rd gear.

Word, my a6 starts spooling that turbo at 3grand and im to 10psi before 4grand. Like bumblezc said start shimming with washers, It might take a bit of screwing around with it so be prepared to burn your hands!

Re: spool time

Try shimming the Wastegate. Just grab a washer and put it between the compressor housing and wastegate.
