Soon to be turbo'ed D16z6. Pics and questions!

Hi, I have purchased these parts for a HMT setup for my d16z6.

I have some pics of the manifold, turbo and intercooler I'm getting, and wandering what you all think. Thanks for the time.\

"" The turbo is an polished IHI RHB5 from a subaru.. The turbo doesnt have any shaft play at all, it is a super nice turbo that will last a long time. The turbo is small so it will have quick spoil, full boost by 2000 rpm. Im not sure what boost is set at but the wastegate should be set at about 6 psi. Using a boost controller can easily raise the boost.

The manifold and downpipe is ceramic coated, the downpipe measures 2.25" and is mandrel bent. It has a seperate pipe for the wastegate to give it better flow in turn more HP. I have build many of these types of manifold for other cars and have not seen any cracking. The manifold is very durable..

The intercooler is custom made, core size measures 22" long x 2" wide x 4.5" tall. The diameter of the pipe is 2", it measures endtank to endtank 25", and 29" long overall. I pressured tested it to 35 psi with no leaks.

I ran it on my car with just the oil lines hooked up to see if it was working fine. I idled and rev'ed it up and the turbo spoiled really fast and nice, there are no signs of any oil leaks within the turbo because the exhaust did not smoke at all. This would be a great turbo for quick spoil daily driving, low boost on stock motor. ""

Since I've put this stuff together, I've purchased the uberdata kit from Moates.net and am getting a laptop to learn how to tune myself. I'll be doing all the soldering in the Ecu also. I figure I'd rather learn then have someone do it for me.
I had a list of questions that I was unsure of, but can only remember 1 at the moment. I guess I'll just come back and post them in this thread. The one that comes to mind is about injectors. I am getting some dsm 450's. And my question is, since my car is obd1, do I need a resistor box? Also, what is the difference between red tops and blue tops and green tops. I'd like some that I can just swap in.

I am reading here daily, learning more and more.

Thanks for your time.

Yea you're going to need a resistor box, but personally I use inline resistors because they are cheaper. Just go to radio shack and get 4 10 watt 10 ohm resistors (they are sold in packs of 2) and wire them inline with the yellow/black wire that goes to each resistor. Blue tops are 1g dsm 450's, black tops are 2g dsm 450's. Some other sizes may also be black tops, so be sure to make sure the injector says "MDL450" if it is a black top to make sure you are getting the right ones. Everyone loves blue tops for some reason but in reality the only difference they have to the black tops is that the blue tops will be older and have more miles on them.

yes you'll need resistors in any car other than obd0

but i think you should throw that oil line kit away and look into --------------------------- . I only say that because I have had bad luck with rubber oil return hoses, and have had good luck from oral pleasure from stevemode
