solution for lowering boost...?????
i was talking to my dad about lengthening the actuator arm and he had a pretty good idea that i wanted to run by you guys and see what you think...what he said was why couldnt i unbolt the wastegate actuator from the turbo and throw a couple of washers behind it and bolt it back on effectiveley pushing the whole thing forward which would be the same, i think, as lengthing the arm, while keeping it stock so that when i get the injectors, etc i want i can just put it back...what do you guys think, it would certainly be easier and put me at a better peace of mind..

Re:solution for lowering boost...?????
That's a good way to raise the boost.....not to lower.

Re:solution for lowering boost...?????
i was under the impression that if you lengthened the arm that it would lower the pressure??? wouldnt that be the same as lengthening it?

Re:solution for lowering boost...?????
had me worried there for a sec, so then you think that would be ok to do? would it be the same?

Re:solution for lowering boost...?????
Yeah, but I don't think it would lower it that much, but I guess it depends on how much you move it. Keep in mind that by doing this you are greatly increasing spool time. How much are you looking to lower it?

Re:solution for lowering boost...?????
only maybe 1.5-2 psi

Re:solution for lowering boost...?????
What turbo do you have? I can't see how adding w2ashers on a standard T3 is going to move the actuator closer. ???

Re:solution for lowering boost...?????
sorry i shouldve posted that earlier, im using a t25 on a stock d16z6...using a walbro 255 and vortech fmu, im worried about letting it go at the stock pressure, 8psi, on "improper" engine management

Re:solution for lowering boost...?????
Maybe I'm not seeing this right in my head, but I can't see how adding washers is going to move it closer. The only place to put washers would be in between the actuator and the mount, correct? This would move the actuator farther away from the wastegate, which in turn would raise the boost. Am I missing something?
