So... got a new turbo the other day
3 Attachment(s)
I picked this up from a friend the other day for really cheap (under 50 bucks). Its a schwitzer turbo with a t3 flange, the out side has some oxidation on it but the inside is clean as hell. Let me know what you think and if anyone knows what kind of exhaust flange that is plz let me know cuz I have no clue

not sure about exhaust flange. but as long has there is no shaft play it was a good deal

NO shaft play at all, it looks like its either never been ran or it has just been rebuilt and they cleaned the hell out of it on the inside

gl with finding that exauhst flange

Looks like an old Caterpillar Schwitzer turbo. There is a sliding ring that fits into the groove around the exhaust outlet, and also fits into a groove on the exhaust elbow. This ring "floats" between the turbo and elbow and is held in place because the turbo and elbow are both rigidly mounted to the exhaust manifold.
This keeps any bending stress from the exhaust pipe from pulling on the turbo; either from pulling on the exhaust, or from thermal expansion. |
