smoke and stalling
alright, everythign is pretty much setup, i have the downpipe but no exhaust piping til tomorrow.
smoke seems to be coming from the turbo, took me a while to think of something, and i came up with: the smoke is the pb blaster, wd40, and random oil that got on it. could this be it? it was smoking quite a bit for a while, and it smells funky. i dont hear anything strange or unusual, cars just loud bc of open downpipe. secondly, the car seems to stall or backfire, sorta randomly. it idles fine, then ill hear a pop kind of. im running crome, im on a basemap. |

Re: smoke and stalling
ok, now i have smoke, im gonna check the oil return line. any other ideas?
|
Re: smoke and stalling
restrictor?
|
Re: smoke and stalling
-3an line, to my understanding i dont need a restrictor. im still thinking its my damn return line.
|
Re: smoke and stalling
I'd still run one. Hondas put out some pretty decent oil pressure. I bought a ball valve in 1/8 NPT for my setup, adjustable restrictor ftw.
|
Re: smoke and stalling
oil pressure is at about 80 psi at idle. bah, too much oil, not enough. from what ive read people say a restrictor isnt needed for a t3, with a -3an line. if thats right and i put on a restrictor then it would be lacking oil

Re: smoke and stalling
Your sources seem to not understand that a turbo only needs 10-20psi to run correctly, honda's put out 80psi at idle like you said, which is wayy to much the seal(s) inside the turbo. Even with your -3an line you will need a restrictor. Hit stealthmode for his $14 oil restrictor, itll save your turbo. Your backfiring/missfire could very well be because of the basemap so get that bitch tuned. Good luck
