small turbo question

ok i have read that the small turbos spool up really fast but lose power in the higher rpm's. how is this so? in higher rmps wouldnt i be at full boost still..or what? say i was running 8psi and on the RHB5 i have and say i got 70 horses from it,at higher RPM's would that 70 horsepower @ 8 psi go drop?I am using a RHB5 on my turbo project because i want a turbo that spools up very fast and is compact in size.

Re:small turbo question

Beau is right, CFM is what makes the power, think of it as a flow of water, a small stream out of a garden hose(small turbo) can have lots of pressure, but not supply very mutch water(air fuel to fill your cylinders) a large stream of water out of a fire truck(big turbo) will supply the same pressure but lots more water(air fuel). Most manufacturers of factory turbo cars don`t care about all out high RPM performance, they want to give there small motors some low RPM push, like on the older Volvos and subarues, they are turbocharged but not very fast, this is because they used a small, fast spooling turbo to get the car up to speed quickly rather than a larger slow spooling turbo that would make it faster. This is why sizing your turbo to your motor is important, to small, not enough power, to big and it takes forever to make power(lag).

Re:small turbo question

correct me if i am wrong but, most hondas are already fast on the top end and slow on the bottom side. so smaller would be better?

Hondas are fast? when did this happen? Why didn't anyone tell me!
