We have the 350 all set up and 2-425 Impco mixers on a Y type draw thru inlet. While building this the 82 C250 (my tesy bed vehicle) was powered by the 402 and one day while on the mowing route in June a semi truck driven by a tired driver ran a red light and T boned inbetween the cab and trailer at @ 45mph. My 4 crew guys were banged up but ok but other than the engine and radiator the rest was gone so....

Am currently looking for a "test bed" to put it in. What do you know about propane and turbos as far as enrichening the mixture under boost vs being on the rich side all the time? Thanks!

That sucks. I lost my wicked awesome VW diesel commuter in a similar manner last year. 23psi of 1.6L turbo diesel fury.

Unfortunately i have had no draw thru experience with propane. Only blow thru. And with LPG its very simple and effective to run blow thru. Balance tubes equalize the pressure in the mixer eliminating the problems associated with carbs and boost. Blowing their guts out.

Dont be scared of compression and boost. Again the problems associated with compression gasoline and boost.


Here is some really good info on airflow and mixture. Dont know your HP goals but as you can see some of these setups are running good HP on singe mixer and dual converters . Might bee better for your low rpm application.

For Cam shaft choice. I had a really good discussion with my cam shaft supplier about propane turbo grinds. Check them out Colt Cams. There is no LPG info on the site but call and talk to Geoff. Super knowledgeable. And was into some good Propane turbo builds back in the day.

Hi !! New to the forum and found this thread through the search function.
I am considering the thought of a turbocharged , propane fueled small block chevy.
I'm not interested in making a ton of HP,, more interested in getting fuel economy.
This would be going into a '72 C20,,which will be my daily driver. The truck would mainly be driven empty,, hauling a load or towing a trailer maybe 5% of the time. I'm learning here,, I understand the basic operation of a turbo but have no clue as to selection or tuning.
I am going to watch this thread and see what I can learn,,,, I will probably be throwing some questions into the mix so please be gentle,,, I'm new to this area !!
