Silicon on JB Weld.. work?

i think you need to reassess your strategy and possibly unghetto it and redo it correctly

Re:Silicon on JB Weld.. work?

I think he means he either jbwelded it to the block or jbwelded it to the turbo. I can't say I blame him; I considered doing the same thing.

Until I calmed down and actually discovered where the leak was. I will second Hotrex on this one.

Re:Silicon on JB Weld.. work?

i did the exact same thing, cuz someone *cough* stealth *cough* didnt send me a l fitting from the turbo and i chopped off part of the metal that covers the braiding which in turn fucked up the seal between the straight fitting from the turbo, i did this cuz it would not clear and fit. and i tried a shitload of jb weld. it doesnt work, just bite the bullet and goto the store and buy what you need.

Re:Silicon on JB Weld.. work?

Yea stay away from the jb weld there, its not as good of a "sealant" as silicon if thats what ur asking, it gets harder but tends to leak easier. Silicon it if its a gasket area on the turbo ie drain flange. If not buy some fitting and new ----

Re:Silicon on JB Weld.. work?

just do it right, no more crap. also might wanna eliminate that harsh 90 degree bend from your chargepipes.

Re:Silicon on JB Weld.. work?

that link to that epoxy said nothing about how hot it can hold.. so i dunno about that stuff.. okay if i get the JB WELD off, what do you guy consider? teflon tape? RTV Silicon (high temp)

Re:Silicon on JB Weld.. work?

I had some probs with the oil return, i jb welded a fitting into the pan, it didnt leak, but it rubbed a tranny support. and i had to redo that. jb weld smells like ass when you sand it or grind it down. my grinder still smells like that ----.

after i got that in, the oil line has a prob. (cause i cant get an oil line kit yet) so i am just siliconing the line, and it stops the leaking pretty good.
