SIde Mount vs FMIC
I can get a stock sidemount intercooler of a sr20det for like 40 us, so im thinking that there is no need for a fmic especially when i wont be boosting past 8psi. And yes the fmic look better but im trying to save some money here, And in my opinion i wont be at a disadvantage running a sidemount as oppose to the fmic.
What do u guys think? |
Re:SIde Mount vs FMIC
I vote yes ::thumbsup::
Granted I am at 5000 feet elevation, but i'm running 7psi consistantly with absolutely no detonation... when I go up to 10 psi i'll be TOP MOUNTING a Ford Probe intercooler for the ultimate in gayness. It fits perfectly where the stock airbox was!!! Just need to reweld the endtanks and there I go. Oh yeah, i'll need one of those special fancy hoods with the scoop built in (but more likely i'll just cut a hole and make my own ;D) Bigger IC=more lag anyway. |
Re:SIde Mount vs FMIC
yea, my vote would be the sidemount. you really don't need the front mount until you up the boost. i don't know how many psi of boost the sr20 puts out, but a dsm puts about 12 psi stock, so a dsm sidemount shuold be fine for that much boost in any car.

Re:SIde Mount vs FMIC
i doubt you would notice the increased lag with a front mount, i didnt. plus it just makes for easier piping imo. you can do a front mount for very little, especially if you take a big truck core and cut it down (like a tyrus ic) and sell the rest
