should my upper ic pipe always stay cold?

i was wondering if the upper ic pipe coming off the ic to the throttle body stay cold? mine seems to warm up a bit but its away from everything that would possibly make it warm xcept for the engine its self... my engine does seem to heat up a bit but i thought the upper ic should stay some what cold cuz the ic on the left side stays cold...

God damn it, I typed a whole speech for you, but the ------- topic was moved by the time I replied. >:(

I'll try again.

If it's hot to the touch, you have a problem. it's going to be a bit hotter than "room temperature" because you're forcing compressed air through a pipe that is connected to the exhaust. :P Since you live in California and it's a bit warm there right now, it's probably normal and nothing to worry about.

Jesus christ, I typed 2 paragraphs and some fucker moved it!!!

Well I'll try again.

It will never be "cool" to the touch unless your running some monster IC, with a fatty snail and your engine bay has incredible circulation. The (passenger side) throttle body ic pipe should always be cooler than the driverside pipe. What I always do to help out the temps is wire my cooling fan to key on, this helps circulate the air in the engine bay, easy drop of 10-15 degrees.

Whats funny on my girlfriends car, we were tuning it doing 10-15 pulls on the freeway from 35-130mph (at night) and after I felt the charge pipes and they were cold! and the intake mani was luke warm. I couldnt beleive it. However last weekend at the track she made 1 pass down the 1/4 mile and she came back to the pits and I could hardly even touch the charge pipes. Heat soak sucks dude, just try to circulate some air in the engine bay.

Jeff
