gearing/tire size/powerband/torque curve/rev limiter in each gear

come up with that and a solid answer is in your pocket

no.

if you are going to be driving at 65 and under , short will be more fun. for frequent highway trips, higher mpg at faster speeds, and wrapping around of the speedo, go with the longer(lower) gears

taller tires need a higher gear, same with peaky powerbands, and 5 million rpm rev limits

torque and high power cars will be better with longer gears.

i am running a LOOOONG accord tranny on my prelude and i love it. it's a lot of fun to be able to downshift in 3rd at highway speeds and the second gear finally doesn't feel like a 1st gear anymore.
in my book, stretching the gears just makes sense when you add 100% or more HP to a car.

what about a hybrid like an si tranny with a dx 4th and 5th or something? i dont know what the gears are in either but seems better then having the whole tranny geared long.

Thought of that, MistaBone is champ on the D-Series trannies and as he stated the 5th gear in EX and DX trannies are the same. Also, you can't go B to D gears saaaaaaay, like LS 3rd for your EX 4th gear, just won't work.

In your case, shorter gears. I really don't like the long gear myth at all. Unless you're taping the rev limiter in 5th then you're gears are fine.

I have always wondered this too, I have a d15b7 tranny and a z6 tranny, not sure which one I will use yet, my hp goal is 350 on my z6. I have tall tires so I figured I'll use the 93 z6 transmission.

That Pink's All Out CRX runs LS gearing, with 500WHP on tap I def. wouldn't want a B16 tranny, you just wind up running giant ass slicks. It's like the guys on H-T saying the new M&H tire hooks really well now, no ---- it's a giant ------- tire that just turned your B16 tranny into an LS.
