Shaft play Holset H1C
Hi there, I bought a Holset H1C from Lowerit and I want to know if the shaft play is excessive or not. Since I don't know much about shaft play, I ask to "expert"
For me it look a bit big, but I i'm not sure... Does it worth 150$?

The last sound is axial play....
Thanks folks!
Feel free to flame, but answer my question before

Re: Shaft play Holset H1C
does it hit the compressor housing?
if you are ever around a semi or soemthing with a large turbo check the pay, sometimes it is like 1/4inch sideways but almost none in and out.
i would say that turbo is fine as long as it doesnt hit the sides, and doesnt have in and out movement.

Re: Shaft play Holset H1C
If the turbo has end play (in/out) it's worthless. I mean it's a good core, but rebuilding a turbo with end play calls for quite the project as more than likely there's wear to the wheel(s), bearing housing itself, and shaft. Anyone who tells you otherwise is simply wrong. Also, that much lateral play is too much. It's well over 0.5mm which is pretty much the accepted maximum for lateral play. If you can feel ANY end play by hand then it's too much, as the tolerances are so tight that you shouldn't be able to feel it at all. I know it's not what you want to hear, but best case scenerio that turbo is a core.
