Default Running a Turbo with no pressure on it???

I have a quick question. If I run my car with the turbo bolted up but not conected(Basically not connecting my charge pipes). Is that in some way harming my turbo because its spinning with no pressure . The reason I want to know is when I get my new turbo for Westcoast Turbos in, I want to run my car a while without boost until I can get it to a dyno and have it tuned. Plus I just put my head back on and I kind of want to make sure everything cool before boosting again.

It will eventually ---- your turbo up by over-spinning. That ****** will spin ***** out forever if the pipes aren't hooked up. If you *had to* do it I would make sure the WG is all the way open.

So your saying that I should make sure that the wg is hooked up. My wg is set a 8.5psi how would i make it stay open.

take off the wg arm n make the flapper stay open... do not connect the wg in any way. basically take it off so the turbo can't ever over spool. but it will still possibly mess up with no pressure. why dont you just hook everything up n just dont boost? its easy to stay out of boost. even going up hills im just at 0... part-throttle is your friend.

indeed, you can really overspool the turbo by driving it without the charge pipes hooked up. Like mentioned you would have to completely dissconnect the wastegate in order for it to be safe to drive.
