ridiculous turbo oil problems..
Yea my turbo is definitely toast, I took it for a run last night with the restrictor almost closed and the charge pipe blew off, and oil was blown everywhere on my fender hah, quite a bit of oil... soooo I guess my options are replace the individual parts needed, a rebuild kit, or a new center section..
I guess I would get a center section instead of a rebuild kit b/c the cost is near the same.. but what are the specific parts most likely causing this? just the piston ring seal? its leaking tons of oil compressor side, like coated thick all over the inside of my charge piping, and puddled in places like couplers etc.. but no oil on the hot side ha.. It has a little shaft play, none when the turbo was off the car/dry, but now it has maybe 1mm's worth(doesnt touch housings).. no axial(in/out) play at all though.. so i would assume its fixable/rebuildable... |

blown seal compressor side.

Re: ridiculous turbo oil problems..
#1 if it got that much play in no time, it probably wasn't balanced properly and you got some premature bearing wear.
#2 The compressor side piston ring is eiter broken or jumped out of it's groove when the thrust collar was inserted in the backplate. |
