rich or lean?

how can you tell if your boosted d16 is running rich or running lean without a wideband? can you tell by how it sounds or how the throttle feels or how the car is running?

Also, black smoke means rich. Basemaps are for a reason, not to boost! Drive to the tuner on them big injectors and get it tuned!
