Default Resonator

I just got a new muffler, it has a great deeper tone but above 5Gs with or without the silencer it gets the weedeater tangy snarl to it. I hate that sound.

My girlfriends car when we bought it had a cherry bomb for a muffler. I have heard of people using these as a temp resonator. Has anybody used it? does it help the snarl and tang?

I want an idea before I chop out a fat section of my exhaust!!!!

Do you have stock piping?Did you just change out the muffler?Ive noticed people complain about the "ricey "exhoust sound when they only change out the muffler and keep the stock exhoust pipes.

so your running 2.25in piping with no resonator? or you running 2.25in with the stock shity 1.something inch resonator??

From what ive heard and seen..... i think the Cherrybomb is restrictive.... Just get something like a COmptech 2.5in resonator... thats what I got... and full 2.5in piping... and its loud... but not in an annoying way...

Currently I have a Hedman header with a highflow cat to 2 1/4 pipe to this muffler. With the Silencer in, it's not loud with it out, it is loud but my dad say's it is not to loud. I just don't like the tangy cracking noise at higher revs.

My car makes the same noise your talking about. I have a
2 1/4" exhaust without a resonator and I changed the muffler and swapped in a different engine and it still makes the cracking sound so the only other thing would be the lack of resonator.
Thats my guess.
