Honestly at 5psi am I going to need a FMIC? How significant is the chance of detonation due to no intercooler on a low boost setup like this? I just would like some opinions before I buy one...

 

I went 12.1 without one.

But it will help even on 5 psi im sure.

 

just get a dsm sidemount and mount it by the tire on the passenger side. its where mine is gonna go.

 

for what they cost, what they do, what they support, and what theyll save on a hot day, it's worth it

 

absolutely not required, positively reccomended.

 

I ran my very very first z6/14b with no IC @ 6psi and no issues, but you could tell it wasn't happy on the hot days. That's when I ended up snagging my very first Evo 8 FMIC and it loved it to death even at 14psi in 90-100* ambient temps.

 

not required if you're being a cheap bastard. For me, i ran without one for a while during the winter, and when i got one in the spring, i just used it as an excuse to be able to turn up the boost, which eventually ended my engine and its turbo glory. To each his own eh? Agree to disagree?

and it goin right there once i get my charge pipes. making the cold side for the time being, then the hot when i get the turbo on.
