Replacement DSM t25, or rebuild mine

Ok, my charge pipe popped off the other day, and I noticed the turbo was spewing out all sorts of oil onto my inner bumper, tire, etc... (explains my recent oil loss)

Anyway, I figure it will need a replacement soon... My question is, are the dsm t25's easy to rebuild (kit sells for $75 on egay), or should I just buy another turbo? I just don't want to spend $100 on another turbo that will have to be replaced again in 6 months.

P.S before I go tearing mine out, im trying the "oil restrictor" method today. For some reason, I'd never heard about this, but found a writeup today.

ya i got kinda the same dillema. mine is burnin oil up fast, and make weird nosies in boost, when it makes the noise i loose power too. thinkin about goin to 14b, but then i need to get a new drain flange and j-pipe flange and re-do my ic piping

It would'nt be that hard for you to upgrade to a 14b or 16g, you'l' beable to reuse your mani and down pipe. You'll just need a new oil feed fitting and charge pipe connection.

But yeah, you need a oil restrictor, too much feed pressure and oil shoot's past the seal's.

I know its big money... however... build the motor..

and use this :

You can save like $100 or something if you send your junk one in as a core.

Think of it as, a little bigger than a big 16g. I like it.. you could really fool some fuckers with it.

Holy ---- for that price you could buy a damn nice t3/t04E, 2 holsets, and still have money left over!
Im sure it spools fast as hell, but efficiency at higher boost levels HAS to be suffering. Id like to see a comp. map on something like that before I bought it...
Ive heard that at 16psi, they flow more than a small 16g, but less than a big 16g.
Probably not worth the money, most "street racers" think a TDO5 is a small turbo anyway...
