Removing A/C on a Civic

How hard, and what is involved in removing my A/C system out of my Civic? Should I get this profesionally done? And if so, how much does it cost.

use a valve stem screwdriver, pull out the thing in the cap (with the blue plastic cap on it). unscrew it all the way, (do this with the car either outside or in a well ventilated area as the ---- (freon, or r32j whatever) is pretty bad for your health . when it all leaks out, grab yourself a thumb wrench a 10mm socket/wrench and a screwdriver.

i swear to god, you could take anything off a honda with a 10mm a 12mm a 14mm a screwdriver and a thumb wrench.

do it in the garage, with your face over the valve like stealthmode does

Freon inhallation is deadly b/c it's heavier than air, and it sits in your lungs and won't leave. I hear many people die from it b/c they don't know what happened. I wonder if that means you need to breathe standing on your head for a while and your all clear?

HAAH! Thats actually they do DO! If you breath in a gas that is heavier than air just do a hand stand or hang upside down from a monkey bar for a while...

No, do it in the garage with your mouth over the valve, and push it in with your tounge. Haha. :D

you can do it, put your back in to it.

It's easy, just be careful venting that ----, unless your AC is busted with a leak, you need to be careful.

Yeah...watch out when you first open the system...there's some serious pressure in there. Unless you had a leak and it's all discharged. Also, try not to do this in the street or anything. There are acually laws against letting freon into the air.. ::) ..they carry some serious fines, so try not to make a public thing out of it...

Re:Removing A/C on a Civic

Would it be so terrible to suggest having the freon captured and contained by a professional?

There's a reason for it being illegal to do. ;)

ya, god forbid those bastard AC dudes with refidgerent recycling stations not be able to re-sell the R-12 they steal out of older cars to resell to customers at 900% profit :D

but ya... id have it sucked out by an AC place, they might do it free or for minimal charge since you're being a swell guy :P
