rebuilding a turbo.

I just got scammed on a tdo5hr turbo. It has some considerable shaft play. the fins are just a hair from touching the sides.
Is their any way I can just get new bearings for it and replace them myself?

I'm actually thinking about doing it. His name is Kurt Smith and he lives in Livonia, Michigan.
I paid him 250 for this piece of ----. Ive looked into it. It costs $330 on average to get one rebuilt.

Do those kits acually work well? I just got on ebay and found one. Wouldn't I have to get the turbo balanced after I change the seals and bearings.
